지난 5월 유해 집비둘기로 인한 분변 및 털 날림으로 주민피해 신고 접수가 많은 교각 10개소를 대상으로 청소 및 소독을 실시하였고, 이번에도 동일한 장소를 대상으로 집비둘기 퇴치 작업을 실시할 예정이라고 했다.

전철교각 하부 집비둘기 알 및 둥지를 제거하고 고압분무기를 사용하여 배설물 등을 청소하는 한편, 집비둘기가 다시 서식하지 못하도록 조류 기피제를 설치하고 소독 약품을 살포할 예정이며, 또한 분변 등으로 인해 더러워진 교각 아래 바닥을 청소함으로써 퇴치 작업을 마무리할 계획이라고 전했다. 

동두천시 환경보호과장은 “시민들이 주로 이용하는 구간의 비둘기 퇴치 작업을 통해 비둘기 피해를 예방하여 동두천 시민이 좀 더 쾌적한 환경에서 생활할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
