[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 6월 13일 새마을지도자양주시협의회는 일요일에도 불구하고 회천1동 소재 덕정역 일원과 융보하천에서 탄소중립 실천을 위한 국토 대 청결운동 및 환경가꾸기 사업을 전개했다고 밝혔다.

이날 사업에는 김용춘 새마을운동양주시지회장, 채호병 회천1동새마을지도자협의회장, 홍윤자 회천1동새마을부녀회장과 지도자 등 20명이 동참했다고 했다.

사업에 참석한 새마을 회원들은 덕정역을 중심으로 주요 도로와 골목길까지 버려진 쓰레기를 일일이 확인하여 재사용 가능한 물품은 별도로 분리하여 모았고 사용할 수 없는것들은 정량제 봉투(75L) 10개에 넣어서 폐기 하였고 융보하천 일대는 지도자들이 예초기를 가지고 제초 작업을 말끔하게 했다고 전했다. 

행사를 주관한 이종용 회장은 “최근 전 지구적 차원의 탄소중립 실천을 위하여 우리의 환경은 내마을 내고장에서는 새마을지도자가 앞장서야 할 것 같아 이번에 양주시 공모사업을 신청, 선정되었기에 앞으로도 대여섯 차례 더 실시할 계획이다”고 소감을 밝혔다.
