[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양주시가 ‘2021 농업인대학 운영 우수기관’으로 선정돼 장려상을 수상하는 영예를 안았다고 전했다.

경기도 주관 ‘농업인대학 운영평가’는 한 해 동안 농업인대학의 성과창출과 농업인 교육의 품질 향상을 도모하기 위해 도내 농업인대학을 대상으로 실시하는 농업교육훈련기관 평가이며, '농업인대학 교육과정 이수율', '운영과정 수', '지역특화 작목 교육과정 편성여부', '비대면 교육 반영비율', '자체강사 활용률', '청년 농업인 교육참여율', '교육홍보실적 등 농업인대학 운영' 전반에 대해 자체평가(1차), 역량평가(2차), 발표경진(3차) 등으로 이뤄졌다고 했다.

시는 ‘농업(Agriculture)과 문화(Culture)’가 결합된 농업인 평생학습 HRD시스템 운영, 농업대학 졸업생의 재능나눔 활동 전개 등 다양한 교육 우수사례를 높이 평가받아 도내 17개 농업인대학 운영기관 중 우수기관으로 선정되며 도농복합도시로서의 위상을 공고히 했다고 전했다.

양주시BIO농업대학은 지역농업의 특화발전, 소득창출과 전문농업인 양성을 위해 지난 2006년 1기 친환경과 개설 이후 지난해 16기까지 937명의 정예 농업인을 배출한 바 있으며 급변하는 농업환경 속에서 과학영농을 실천할 수 있는 정예 신지식농업인을 양성에 기여하고 있다고 했다.

올해는 BIO농업대학 2개과정 ‘생활원예과’, ‘소득작물과’, BIO농업대학원 1개과정 ‘힐링농업과’ 등 총 3개 과정을 운영하고 있으며 과목별 특성에 따라 소규모 집합교육·비대면 온라인교육 등 온·오프라인을 병행함은 물론 자체 전문강사를 적극 활용해 실습 위주의 현장감 있는 맞춤형 교육을 실시할 계획이라고 밝혔다.
