[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 11월 9일부터 원주시립중앙도서관은 오디오북 63종을 추가로 서비스한다고 밝혔다. 

최근에 출간된 신간 도서 위주로 전문 성우와 유명 배우 낭독 등 이용률이 높은 자료가 주를 이룬다고 전했다.

현재 원주시립중앙도서관에서 제공하는 오디오북은 지난해 185종에 이어 올해 165종을 추가하는 등 소설, 시/에세이, 재테크, 자기계발, 인문, 아동 등 다양한 분야의 베스트셀러와 신간을 망라해 총 1,259종에 달한다고 했다.

원주시립 공공도서관 회원(시립중앙도서관, 중천철학도서관, 미리내도서관, 태장도서관)이면 누구나 ‘오디언 도서관’ 앱 또는 시립중앙도서관 홈페이지를 통해 손쉽게 오디오북을 이용할 수 있고, 실시간 듣기(스트리밍)는 무제한으로 가능하며, 다운로드는 최대 100권까지 대여 기간은 5일이라고 했다.

비대면 시대 도래로 스마트폰만 있으면 언제 어디서나 편리하게 이용할 수 있는 오디오북은 작년부터 이용자가 큰 폭으로 증가한 가운데, 이동 중에도 이용하는 등 멀티태스킹이 가능하고 시력이 약해도 듣는 책으로 생생하게 독서를 할 수 있다는 점도 큰 매력이라고 했다. 

도서관 관계자는 “위드 코로나 시대에 시민들이 안전하게 독서를 즐길 수 있도록 오디오북을 비롯한 전자책, 스마트도서관, 무인반납기 24시간 상시 개방 등의 서비스를 제공하고 있다.”며, “변화하는 시민들의 독서 수요를 반영한 자료 확충 등 이용자 서비스에 최선을 다하겠다.”라고 말했다.
