[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 11일 토요일 오전 7시, 동두천시 기독교장로연합회는 동두천 관내 13개교회 장로 27명이 참석한 가운데 지행역4번 출구 광장과 지행역사거리에서 꿈나무정보도서관 사거리 구간의 양쪽 도로변에 버려진 쓰레기를 수거했다고 밝혔다.

이 구간은 동두천시의 중심도로로 토요일 환경미화원들이 근무를 쉬게 되어 시에서 기간제요원을 채용하여 관리하고 있으나 아침 이른시간에 도시미관을 해치고 있고 추석을 맞아 고향을 찾거나 방문하는 사람들에게 쾌적한 환경을 제공하고자 장로연합회 회원들이 환경정비 작업을 하게 됐다고 했다.

장로연합회 손덕환 장로는 “동두천시의 깨끗한 환경을 지키는데 함께 하게 되어 감사하며 기회가 되는 대로 더 많은 봉사를 하여 동두천이 살기 좋은 도시, 깨끗한 도시가 되는데 일익을 담당하고자 한다”고 밝혔다.

한편, 동두천시 기독교장로연합회는 환경정비 이외에 무료급식소 배식봉사, 재능기부, 연탄배달 등 다양한 봉사활동을 해오고 있다고 했다.
