[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 9월 7일부터 10월 28일까지 양주시는 탄소중립 생활 실천을 위한 ‘2021년 청년도시농부 START-UP’ 2기 교육을 운영한다고 밝혔다.

이번 교육은 지난 3월부터 경동대학교 호텔조리학과 학생을 대상으로 진행한 제1기 청년도시농부 START-UP’ 교육이 총 20명의 수료생을 배출하는 등 성황리에 마무리됨에 따라 교육생들의 높은 호응에 힘입어 추가로 개설된 과정이라고 했다.

제1기 교육은 친환경 먹거리 재배에 초점을 두었다면 제2기에서는 아동을 위한 탄소중립과 환경교육 콘텐츠로 다양한 작물의 교육적 활용 가능성에 주목한다고 했다.

제2기 ‘청년도시농부 START-UP’ 교육은 농업공동체 활동 경험을 통해 미래 도시농업 종사자로 성장하길 희망하는 경동대학교 중등특수교육학과 3학년 학생 18명을 대상으로 실시한다고 했다.

특히 공동농장 형태로 운영할 수 있는 기능성 텃밭상자와 노지에서의 작물 재배를 돕는 틀텃밭을 활용해 교내 자투리 공간을 반영구적으로 작물을 재배할 수 있는 친환경 실천 교육장으로 탈바꿈하는 등 도시농업의 가치를 높이고 홍보 효과를 극대화할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다고 했다.

한태수 농업기술센터 소장은 “지난 1기 교육에 이어 식물을 매개체로 코로나19 시대 변화된 우리 일상에 활력을 불어넣을 수 있는 환경친화적 공동체 활동을 마련했다”며 “앞으로도 다양한 식물을 활용한 탄소중립 실천 환경프로그램을 개발해 많은 시민이 참여할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
