[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 오는 8월 2일부터 양주시는 덕정동에서 양주역을 오가는 87번 시내버스 노선을 신설 운행에 들어간다고 밝혔다.

이는 서울시 108번 노선 폐선에 따른 대체 노선 신설로 대중교통 이용 불편을 해소하기 위한 것이라고 전했다.

108번 노선은 양주 덕정동에서 종로5가까지 88.4km를 운행하는 장거리 노선으로 1회 운행시간이 5시간 이상 소요되는 등 운송근로자 근무여건 문제로 폐선이 결정됐다고 했다.

신설된 87번 버스는 봉양동 소재 충성아파트를 출발, 덕정역, 덕정주공단지, 덕정고교, 옥정3단지, 옥정고교, 귀율교, 율정마을 13단지, 삼가대삼거리, 삼숭1교차로, 성우·나래아파트, 장거리교차로, 덕현초교, 고읍주공 4단지, 주내파출소, 양주시청 등을 거쳐 양주역까지 왕복 운행한다고 했다.

평일 총 8대의 버스가 15분에서 25분 간격으로 1일 64회를 운행하며, 주말·공휴일에는 평일 대비 2대 감축한 총 6대의 버스가 20분에서 30분 간격으로 1일 48회를 운행할 예정이라고 했다. 

양주시 관계자는 “노선 폐선에 따른 대체 노선을 수유역과 도봉산역행으로 신설하고자 관내 운수업체와 수차례 협의했으나 운수업체 모두 신설 불가 의견을 제기함에 따라 시민 불편 최소화를 위해 양주역행 노선 신설했다”며 “앞으로도 시민 중심의 편리한 대중교통 편의 증진을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
