[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 6일 원주시 한라대학교 대강당에서 더불어민주당 정기 대의원 대회를 개최한 가운데 2024년 총선을 대비할 더불어민주당 강원도당 위원장에 김우영 강릉시 지역위원장이 선출됐다.

이날 허영, 송기헌 국회의원을 비롯한 5명의 원외위원장과 전·현직 광역·기초의원, 당원 등 약 200여 명이 참석했다.

김 위원장은 지난달 28일 실시한 도당위원장 후보자 접수에 단독으로 입후보했으며, 이날도 별도 경선 없이 도당위원장으로 선출됐다.

김 위원장은 “저를 도당위원장으로 선출해 주셔서 깊이 감사드린다. 강원도민들이 비록 소수이고 지리적 변방에 있지만 새로운 역사에 주인공이 되어야 한다. 강원도민들은 도의 민주당화, 그야말로 거친 물살을 거슬러 올라가고 바람에 맞서 싸우는 그런 민주당의 기세가 쌓일 때 강원도도 민주당화 될 수 있다고 생각한다.”고 밝혔다.

한편, 4년간 도당을 이끌어 온 허영 도당위원장은 이날 새로운 도당위원장이 선출됨에 따라 모든 공식 일정을 마쳤다.
