올해 불빛정원은 가로수 구간과 미니정원 구간으로 나누어 색을 분리 배치해 구간별 통일성을 주었으며, 특히 국화 토피어리 구간을 신설하고 돌고래, 풍차 등 다양한 조형물에 은하수 조명을 설치해 시민들에게 다양한 볼거리를 제공하고 있다고 전했다.

안병용 의정부시장은 “불빛정원을 통해 많은 시민들에게 코로나 19로 우울한 기분을 전환할 계기를 만들어 드리고 싶으며, 일상 속 작은 위로를 전하고 싶다”고 말했다.

한편 의정부시는 내년 2월까지 지속되는 불빛정원 운영기간 동안 일몰 시부터 오후 11시까지 매일 불을 밝힐 예정이라고 밝혔다.
