양주시사회복지협의회 주관으로 열린 이번 사회복지의 날 행사는 코로나19 확산에 따른 정부 방역조치에 따라 최소한의 인원만이 참석한 가운데 별도의 행사를 생략하고 유공자 표창 전수식으로 진행했다고 했다.

사회복지분야 유공 표창은 코로나19 감염 예방을 위해 양주시장, 국회의원, 양주시의회의장, 양주시사회복지협의회장, 한국사회복지협의회장, 경기도사회복지협의회장 등 훈격별로 시간대를 구분, 총 32명의 유공자에게 수여했다고 했다.

또한 기념식 대신 사회복지의 날 기념 포토존, 현수막 등 다양한 이벤트와 함께 수여식을 진행하며 솔선수범 이웃사랑을 실천하는 유공자에 대한 축하와 감사의 마음을 전달했다고 했다.

양주시 관계자는 “코로나19가 지속되는 어려운 상황 속에서도 지역 내 소외된 이웃을 위해 헌신하고 있는 모든 사회복지종사자 분들에게 진심으로 감사의 말씀 전한다”며 “사회안전망 강화를 위한 양주시 복지정책 방향을 다시금 모색해보는 계기가 되길 기대한다”고 말했다.
