또한 은남일반산업단지와 500m가량 떨어져 있는 검준일반산업단지의 경우 공공폐수처리시설의 처리능력이 하루 23,000t에 달하지만, 그에 비해 폐수 배출량이 현저히 적어 유지관리에 어려움을 겪고 있는 상황이었다고 했다.

이에 양주시는 은남일반산업단지에 별도로 공공폐수시설을 설치하지 않고 하수물량을 검준일반산업단지에서 공동으로 처리할 수 있도록 관리·감독기관인 환경부와 한강유역환경청에 수차례 방문해 협의를 진행했다고 전했다.
