[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 7월 8일 의정부시 신곡1동 지역사회보장협의체는 본격적인 폭염이 시작되고 다가오는 초복을 맞이해 온열질환에 취약한 저소득 독거어르신 가구 등 29가구 32명에게 시원한 여름 이불과 즉석삼계탕을 전달했다고 밝혔다. 

이번 온열질환예방 물품 전달은 올해에도 폭염이 예고된 가운데, 코로나19 장기화로 무더위 쉼터 정상 운영이 어려워짐에 따라 독거어르신 등 저소득 온열질환 취약계층에 대한 예방 및 보호 조치를 위해 마련되었으며, 협의체 위원 10명과 담당 공무원 5명이 방역 수칙을 철저히 준수하여 3인 1조로 각 가정을 방문해 물품을 전달하고 안부를 확인하는 등 안전한 여름을 보낼 수 있도록 지원했다고 했다.

신성희 신곡1동 지역사회보장협의체 위원장은 “폭염에 힘들어하는 어려운 이웃을 위해 시원한 여름나기 물품을 지원할 수 있게 되어 매우 뿌듯하다”며 “앞으로도 지속적인 협의체 활동을 통해 소외된 이들의 든든한 이웃이 될 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
