양주시는 감시단원이 제출한 쓰레기 무단투기 현장을 담은 블랙박스 영상을 분석해 과태료를 부과하는 한편, 제보한 감시단원에 ‘양주시 폐기물 관리 조례’에 따라 포상금을 지급할 계획이라고 전했다. 

양주시 관계자는 “그간 쓰레기 무단투기 근절을 위한 지속적인 홍보와 단속활동을 펼쳤으나 행정력만으로 한계가 있는 만큼 시민들의 자발적인 신고가 필요하다”며 “도로환경감시단의 적극적인 활동을 통해 불법행위를 예방하고 질서를 바로잡는 데 앞장서주길 바란다”고 말했다.
