[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 2일 양주시는 직장·공장 새마을운동 양주시협의회 회장 오수영과 관내 저소득층 아동을 위한 디딤씨앗통장 후원식을 개최했다고 밝혔다. 

코로나19 방역수칙을 철저히 준수해 진행된 이번 후원식에는 조학수 양주 부시장, 오수영 협의회장, 김용춘 새마을운동 양주시지회장 등이 참석한 가운데 직장·공장 새마을운동양주시협의회는 디딤씨앗통장에 가입했으나 형편이 어려워 저축을 하지 못하는 관내 아동을 대상으로 3년간 매월 20만원씩 후원하기로 했다고 전했다.

디딤씨앗통장은 저소득층 아동이 보호자와 후원자의 도움을 받아 매월 일정액을 후원하면 국가(지자체)에서도 일대일 정부매칭지원금으로 월5만원까지 적립해주는 자산형성지원사업이라고 했고, 디딤씨앗통장의 후원은 아동권리보장원에 문자나 팩스, 전자우편을 통해 접수하면 매월 계좌이체를 통해 지정된 아동에게 후원을 할 수 있다고 했다.

오수영 회장은 “앞으로도 다양한 아동복리 증진 사업에 지원을 아끼지 않겠다”고 밝혔다.

양주시 관계자는 “우리 아이들에게 큰 희망이 되는 디딤씨앗통장 후원이 계속될 수 있도록 함께 노력해 나갈 것이며, 아이들이 어려운 환경 속에서도 꿈을 잃지 않도록 지속적인 관심을 부탁한다”고 말했다.
