[김현우 기자 = 가평] 가평군은 학교체육 활성화와 인재양성 등 스포츠 리더 성장 지원을 위해 올해 20억여 원을 투입한다고 24일 밝혔다.

 

이에, 유․청소년기 지역 체육인재를 발굴 육성해 작장운동경기까지 엘리트 체육이 이어질 수 있는 선순환 구조의 다양한 지원책을 마련하기로 했다.

 

가평군은 지난 2002년과 2021년에 창단한 가평군청 직장운동경기부 사이클 및 육상 팀이 전국 최강의 실력을 발휘할 수 있도록 금년 전국체육대회 각 10여회 출전 및 훈련 등을 적극 지원한다.

 

또한, 육상, 수영, 사이클, 볼링, 카누, 트라이애슬론 종목 등 관내 10개학교 12개 체육운동부 대회출전 및 운영 지원한다.

 

도단위대회 및 전국단위 입상선수와 지도자에게는 포상금도 전달해 사기를 복돋아 주고 최상의 영향력을 발휘할 수 있도록 할 방침이다.

이와 함께 군은 지역 유소년 체육인재 양성을 위해 야구, 축구, 볼링, BMX(자전거), 탁구, 테니스 등 6개 종목 G-스포츠 운영 지원과 클라이밍, 체대입시반, 족구, 배드민턴, 테니스(육성반), 자전거(육성반) 등 가평스포츠단 운영 등 분야별 지원에 만전을 기할 예정이다.

 

지난해에도 군의 적극적인 지원으로 직장운동경기부 사이클 팀은 국제 및 전국 7개 대회에서 금 1개, 은 6개, 동메달 15개 등 총 22개의 메달을 목에 거는 성과로 개인과 고장의 명예를 드높였다.

여기에 학교체육 10개교 6종목 80여명 지원, G-스포츠 5개클럽 120여명 지원, 가평스포츠 8개단 및 체대입시반 200여명 지원 등을 통해   엘리트로 성장할 수 있는 기반을 다졌다. 

 

가평군 관계자는“경쟁력있는 우수선수 확보와 지역인재 선순환 정립을 통한 체계적인 시스템을 구축해 전문체육 발전에 기여하고 우수한 성적을 통해 가평군의 이름을 널리 홍보할 수 있도록 더욱 노력하겠다”고 말했다.

 

한편 가평군은 군민과 함께하는 스포츠마케팅 추진으로 체육산업의 인프라 구축 및 지역경제 활성화를 위해 올 한해 전국 및 도 단위 체육행사 24개 스포츠대회를 유치할 계획이다.

 

이를 통해 2만5000여명의 선수단이 방문함으로써 외식, 숙박, 펜션, 관광업소 등 활력이 넘치는 가평이 될 것으로 기대된다.
