수산정책보험은 어선원 및 어선 재해보상보험료 지원사업(16.6억 원), 양식수산물 재해보험료 지원사업(1.2억 원), 나잠어업인 안전보험 지원사업(0.2억 원) 3개 사업을 추진하고 있으며, 보험 가입기간(1년간)동안 어업피해가 발생하였을 경우 보험혜택을 받을 수 있다고 했다.

보험가입 대상은 연·근해어업, 양식업, 나잠어업 종사자로 시군별 관할 수협에서 신청할 수 있으며, 보험종류에 따라 국비 지원금을 제외한 자부담금의 10%에서 최대 전액을 지원 받을 수 있다고 했다.

어선원 재해보상보험은 어업에 종사하는 어업인들을 대상으로 3톤 이상 어선의 종사자는 의무가입으로, 가입 시 톤급별 자부담금의 50%에서 10%까지 지방비를 지원받을 수 있으며, 어업활동과 관련한 부상·질병·신체장애 또는 사망 등의 재해를 당하였을 경우 보상을 받게 된다고 했다.

나잠어업인 안전보험 지원사업은 도내 나잠어업인들이 보험 가입 시 본인 부담액(1인당 53천 원) 전액을 지방비로 지원하고 있으며, 어업활동으로 부상·신체장애 또는 사망 등의 재해를 당하였을 경우 보상을 받게 된다고 전했다.

환동해본부장은 “수산정책보험 지원사업을 통해 코로나19로 어려움을 겪고 있는 많은 어업인의 경영 부담을 최소화하고 재해보상 사각지대를 해소하는데 조금이나마 도움이 될 수 있기를 바란다” 면서 “앞으로도 어업인 보호와 권익증진과 어업인의 편의 제고를 위한 정책을 지속적으로 추진하겠다”라고 말했다.
