‘아동과 함께 성장하는 아동친화도시, 양주’를 주제로 열린 이번 토론회는 아동실태조사에서 발굴한 분야별 의제에 대한 다양한 의견을 수렴하여 아동권익 향상에 대한 시민 공감대 형성과 아동친화도시 조성을 위한 기본방향 수립을 목적으로 실시됐다고 전했다.

양주시에 거주하거나 관내 소재 학교에 재학 중인에는 아동·청소년, 학부모, 아동관련 시설 종사자 등 50여명이 참석한 가운데 코로나19 확산 방지를 위해 온라인 화상회의 플랫폼 줌을 활용해 비대면으로 진행했고, 토론회는 양주시 아동실태조사 결과 보고를 시작으로 놀이와 여가, 참여와 시민의식, 안전과 보호, 보건과 사회서비스, 교육환경, 가정환경 등 6개 아동친화 영역별 토론으로 이어졌다고 했다.
