[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양주시는 올바른 재활용품 분리배출 문화 정착과 재활용품 품질개선을 위해 ‘자원관리도우미’를 운영한다고 밝혔다.

이 제도는 코로나19 장기화로 택배물량과 배달음식 서비스가 늘어남에 따라 사용량이 급증한 플라스틱 등 재활용품의 안정적인 수거와 친환경 자원순환 체계 구축을 위해 기획했다고 했다.

이를 위해 양주시는 지난 6월 총 69명의 자원관리도우미 모집을 완료하고 관내 공동주택 95개 단지, 클린하우스 25개소에 배치했다고 전했다.

특히 본격적인 활동에 들어가기에 앞서 지난달 29일 최종 선발된 자원관리도우미를 대상으로 올바른 재활용품 분리배출 방법, 주민응대 요령, 폭염 예방 안전수칙 등에 대해 교육했다고 했다.

이들은 오는 11월까지 5개월간 재활용품 배출현장에서 분리배출 지원과 사전 선별작업을 전개하고 올바른 분리배출에 대한 시민의식 개선을 위해 적극적인 홍보활동에 앞장설 예정이라고 했다.

양주시 관계자는 “코로나19로 비대면 소비문화가 확산되면서 일회용품 사용 급증하는 등 재활용품 분리배출의 중요성이 높아지고 있다”며 “투명페트병 라벨, 종이상자 테이프 분리 유도 등 재활용품 자원화를 적극 독려해 지속가능한 자원순환사회 조성에 총력을 기울이겠다”고 말했다.
