[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 양주시는 2021 양주 올해의 책을 활용해 진행 중인 ‘우리동네 리딩샵’과 ‘북 크로싱’ 사업 참여자 모집을 오는 6월 30일까지 연장한다고 밝혔다.

우리동네 리딩샵(READING SHOP)은 미용실, 카페 등 시민들의 이용이 많은 생활밀집 공간에 양주 올해의 책을 비치해 일상에서 독서를 즐길 수 있도록 하고 참여 상점에는 인증현판을 제공하는 시민독서운동이라고 했다.

양주시는 당초 목표로 20호점 모집할 예정이었으나 관내 소상공인의 뜨거운 관심과 성원으로 조기 마감됨에 따라 오는 6월 30일까지 추가로 10호점을 모집한다고 했다.

양주시에서 상점을 운영하는 사업자라면 누구나 양주시 평생교육진흥원 도서관정책팀으로 전화 신청하거나 이메일로 접수할 수 있다고 전했다.

한편 ‘북 크로싱’은 첫 주자인 리더가 양주 올해의 책 중 한 권을 선정해 책을 읽은 후 도서관 홈페이지 북 크로싱 코너에 한 줄 서평을 작성하고 다음 참여자를 지목, 책을 전달하며 릴레이 방식으로 진행하는 범시민 독서운동이라고 했다.

이번 사업은 지난 4월 30일까지 참가자를 모집했으나 독서문화 생활의 갈증을 느끼는 시민들의 자발적인 참여 요청이 쇄도함에 따라 모집 기간을 6월까지 연장하기로 했다.

북 크로싱 리더를 희망하는 시민은 양주시 도서관에 방문하거나 이메일을 통해 접수할 수 있으며, 최소 4인 이상을 구성해 이끌 수 있다면 누구나 신청 가능하다고 했다.

양주시 관계자는 “올해 새롭게 시작하는 생활밀착형 책 읽기 사업이 시민들의 높은 호응에 힘입어 성황을 이루고 있다”며 “책을 통해 소통하고 교류하는 독서문화 진흥에 기여하고 책 읽는 도시 양주 조성을 위해 다양한 독서활동 활성화 방안을 모색해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
