[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 양주시 회천4동 지역사회보장협의체는 관내 학생 2명에게 학원비를 지원하는 ‘마을이 키우는 인재’ 사업을 실시했다고 밝혔다. 

이번 사업은 마을복지 지원 사업의 일환으로 2020년 연합모금 사업에서 마련된 모금액과 사회복지공동모금회의 매칭지원금으로 추진하며 12명 신청자 가운데 심사를 통해 가장 높은 점수를 받은 2명을 선발해 오는 12월까지 1인당 총150만원의 학원비를 지원해주는 사업이라고 했다. 위원회는 지난 24일 이번사업에 선정된 학생 2명을 추천한 옥빛중학교에 방문해 감사의 뜻을 전했다.  

최귀숙 공동위원장은 “작은 정성이지만 어려운 여건의 학생들에게 도움을 주고 싶은 마음에 사업을 추진하게 됐다”며 “장학금을 받은 학생들이 꿈을 잃지 않고 학업에 정진하기를 바란다”고 말했다.

이기호 회천4동장은 “유례없는 코로나19 재난 상황으로 어려움을 겪고 있는 학생들에게 꿈과 희망을 주고 지역사회에 필요한 인재로 거듭날 수 있도록 지원에 힘쓰겠다”며 “장학금 대상자와 지원범위를 더욱 확대하기 위해 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
