2018년 처음 시작된 동두천생활문화축제는 시민들이 직접 기획하고 추진하는 시민주도형 축제로, 동두천생활문화센터 동아리 네트워크에 함께하는 다양한 전시, 체험, 공연 동호회가 두 달간 매주 기획회의를 하면서 축제를 만들었다고 했다.

이번 축제는 ‘아름다운 시민들의 생활문화 다시 활짝’이라는 슬로건 아래 코로나19로 침체된 도시에 활력을 주자는 의미를 담아 큰 호응을 받았으며, 생활문화 활동을 이어가는 평범한 이웃들의 인터뷰 영상을 상영해 큰 감동을 선사했다고 전했다.
