 이번 캠페인은 코로나19로 인해 3·1절 기념행사를 개최하지 못하는 상황에서 민족자존과 국권회복을 위해 희생하신 선열들의 숭고한 애국정신을 기리기 위한 것으로, 관내 곳곳을 운행하는 택시를 대상으로 태극기를 배부 및 부착하여, 시민들의 나라사랑 분위기를 고취하기 위해 추진되었다. 

 최재국 광복회장은 “3·1절을 기념하여 국권회복을 위해 헌신하신 선열들의 위업을 기리기 위해 3월 4일까지 택시 태극기 부착기간을 운영하게 되었는데, 캠페인에 적극 동참해주신 택시회사 및 기사 여러분들께 감사의 말씀을 드린다.”고 소감을 밝혔다.

 최용덕 시장은 “코로나19로 인해 모두가 힘들고 어려운 시기지만, 태극달기 캠페인을 통해 선열들의 애국심을 다시 한 번 가슴에 새기고, 자긍심을 가지는 계기가 되었으면 한다.”고 전했다.
