[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양주시는 양주시 개인·법인 택시의 심야시간 운행 가동률을 높이기 위해 이달부터 올해 말까지 한시적으로 택시 호출 콜비를 지원한다.

이는 개인·법인 택시 운수종사자의 노령화와 1인 1차 고정배정으로 인한 야간 운행 기피로 심야 시간대 택시 승차난이 심화됨에 따라 시민들의 승차 불편을 해소하기 위한 것이다.

이에 양주시는 택시가 가장 부족한 심야 시간대인 오후 11시부터 오전 2시까지 운행하는 택시 가운데 실제 운행 차량에 대해 콜 접수 건당 5천원을 지원한다.

이번 지원을 통해 심야 시간에 운행하는 택시 운수종사자는 택시비용 외 승객이 추가 부담하는 1천원의 콜비에 더해 5천원의 지원금을 받을 수 있게 된다.

양주시 관계자는 “사회적 거리두기 전면 해제로 야간에 택시 승차를 희망하는 승객은 늘었으나 심야 시간대 운행하는 택시 운수종사자들이 줄어 지역 곳곳에서는 밤마다 ‘심야 택시 대란’이 벌어진다”며 “야간 운행을 유도할 수 있는 다양한 유인책을 마련해 늦은 귀갓길에 보다 쉽고 편리하게 택시를 이용할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
