[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] (재)강원문화재단에서 추진하는 ‘강원작품개발지원사업-강원다운’에 선정된 박연희의 음악극 「하얀 꽃 필 무렵」이 오는 12월 10일 평창문화예술회관 대공연장과 오는 12일 강릉아트센터 소공연장에서 초연된다고 전했다.

음악극 「하얀 꽃 필 무렵」은 강원문화재단‘강원작품개발지원사업-강원다운’에 2년 연속 선정된 사업으로, 강원도의 매력을 가득 담은 문학작품인 이효석의 대표 소설 ‘메밀꽃 필 무렵’과 강원일보 신춘문예 당선작 이남영의 동화 ‘감자꽃’을 바탕으로 새롭게 구성했다고 했다.

박연희 음악극 시리즈의 첫 작품인 본 공연은 강원 지역의 자연 환경과 특색을 소재로 하여, 글자로만 표현되던 강원도 문화 자연의 시청각적 구현을 통해 완성도 높은 새로운 지역 표현 예술작품을 창작함으로써 지역의 가치를 되짚어 볼 수 있는 계기를 마련하고자 한다고 전했다.

이번 공연은 강원도에서 영감을 받아 음악을 만들어 활동하는 박연희와 음악 프로듀서 김성광이 주축이 되어 꾸린 연주팀의 음악 연주와 강원도의 풍경을 따뜻한 시각으로 담는 선미화 작가의 그림, 그리고 주민들의 생생한 삶을 영화감독 방수인이 재해석하여 새롭게 표현해냈다ㅈ고 했다.
