배출요령은 공동주택의 경우 김장 관련 부산물을 작게 절단해 생활폐기물 종량제봉투에 담아 음식물계량장비(RFID), 음식물 수거용기 옆에 배출하면 되고, 단독주택은 기존 방식대로 음식물용 종량제봉투에 담아 음식물 쓰레기 배출장소에 배출하면 되지만 흙과 이물질이 묻어있는 배추 겉잎과 파 뿌리, 양파껍질, 마늘껍질은 음식물용 종량제봉투가 아닌 일반 종량제봉투에 담아 배출해야 한다고 전했다.

양주시는 이와 같은 내용을 담은 홍보물을 각 공동주택과 읍면동 행정복지센터 등에 배부하여 김장철 음식물 쓰레기 배출 방법을 집중 홍보할 예정이라고 했다.

양주시 관계자는 “김장철에는 음식물 쓰레기를 무단 투기하거나 일반 비닐봉투에 담아 버리는 경우가 많이 발생한다”며 “김장쓰레기 처리가 원활히 이루어지도록 주민들께서는 꼭 종량제봉투에 분리배출을 당부드린다”고 말했다.
