[김현우 기자 = 가평] 가평군은 늘어나는 반려인구에 따라 유기되는 반려동물도 증가하면서, 안락사 문제 해결과 올바른 입양문화 정착을 위해 군 단위 최초로 유기동물보호센터 공식 인스타그램을 운영한다고 20일 밝혔다.

가평군은 경기도 31개 시․군 중, 직영보호센터로는 네 번째이자 군 단위로는 처음으로 유기동물보호센터 공식 인스타그램을 개설․운영함으로써 입양을 주선하는 등 적극적인 홍보활동에 나섰다. 

또, 유기동물이 따뜻한 가족을 만날 수 있도록 군청 홈페이지에 유기동물 게시판을 신설하는 등 기존 오프라인 방식에서 벗어나 온라인을 통한 입양 홍보활동을 강화하고 있다.

아울러 가평군은 유튜브 활용 및 각종 행사시 유기동물 입양 안내 캠페인 및 입양 절차 등을 적극적으로 안내해 유기동물에 대한 인식을 개선할 계획이다.

현재 가평군에는 유기견 25마리를 보호할 수 있는 유기동물보호센터를 운영하고 있다. 이곳에는 동물진료실, 개사육실, 고양이실 등이 마련되어 있다. 

가평군 동물보호센터에 입소한 유실유기 동물에 대한 정보는 동물보호관리시스템 및 군 홈페이지, 공식 인스타그램 등을 통해 확인할 수 있으며, 유기동물 한 마리 한 마리에 대한 특징, 나이, 이름 등이 붙여져 있다.
