지난 양일간 초미세먼지 위기경보 ‘관심’ 단계 발령에 따른 이번 조치는 대기 정체로 미세먼지가 축적된 가운데 서풍 계열의 바람을 타고 국외 미세먼지가 추가로 유입되면서 발생한 고농도 미세먼지 상황에 대응하기 위해 시행됐다.

미세먼지 배출저감과 시민 건강보호를 위해 오는 3월까지 시행하는 제4차 미세먼지 계절관리제에 따라 미세먼지 고농도 시기 대응 특별대책의 일환으로 시민들의 미세먼지 노출 최소화를 위해 도로 청소를 강화했다.

옥정, 덕정, 고읍지구, 회천지구, 국지도 98호선 등 미세먼지 집중관리도로 5개소에 노면청소차, 살수차 등 총 9대를 2개조로 편성·투입해 운행시간과 운행거리를 확대하고 일 2회 이상 구간 청소를 집중 실시했다.
