이번 사업은 2021년 여성친화도시 특화사업으로 범죄 취약계층인 관내 1인여성 가구, 여학생, 직장여성 등 총50명에게 위기상황에 대처할 수 있는 휴대용 안심벨을 지원해 성폭력 등 범죄 예방과 안심생활 환경 조성을 위해 마련했다고 했다.

휴대용 안심벨(호신용 경보기)은 열쇠고리가 달려 있어 가방에 걸고 다니다가 위급상황이 발생했을 때 경보기의 고리를 당기면 강력한 경보음이 울려 주위에 도움을 요청할 수 있으며 LED 조명등이 함께 장착돼 어두운 길로 다닐 때 유용하게 사용할 수 있다고 했다.

서승열 공동위원장은 “양주1동은 대부분 자연부락인 지역으로 인적이 드물고 외진 골목길이 많아 범죄 위험 노출 가능성이 높고 특히 여성 귀갓길 안심환경 조성이 필요하여 이 사업을 추진하게 되었다”며 “앞으로도 여성친화 환경조성을 위한 사업을 지속적으로 추진해 나가겠다”고 말했다.

신영균 양주1동장은 “이번 사업을 통해 여성들이 귀가할 때 어두운 골목길을 안심하고 다닐 수 있기를 바란다”며 “생활밀착형 양성평등의 지속 실현으로 우리 시 여성친화도시 조성에 앞장서겠다”고 말했다.
