[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 속초시가 오는 22일 시청 대회의실에서「2022 속초시 문화도시 조성계획」보고회를 개최한다고 밝혔다.

이번 보고회는 속초시민을 비롯한 시의회 의원, 지역문화예술단체 관계자, 문화도시추진위원회, 문화도시 행정협의체 등 문화도시 관계자에게 작년 수립된 조성계획을 전면 수정·보완한 결과물을 보고하고 의견을 수렴하는 자리로 조성계획 수립의 마지막 검토 단계라고 했다. 

속초시는 이번 의견 수렴 단계를 거쳐 조성계획 최종본을 수립 후 강원도와 협의를 거쳐 문화도시 추진위원회 심의·의결을 받아 오는 6월 30일 문화도시 지정 공모 신청을 할 계획이라고 전했다.

법정 문화도시는 지역문화진흥법에 따라 문화를 통한 지속 가능한 지역발전 및 지역주민의 문화적 삶을 확산하기 위한 사업으로, 문화도시로 지정되면 5년간 국비를 포함해 최대 200억의 사업비로 문화예술, 문화산업, 역사, 전통 등 지역의 특색 있는 문화자원을 활용해 문화적 기반과 역량을 가진 도시로 성장하기 위한 사업을 추진할 수 있다고 했다.

속초시는 속초문화관광재단과 함께 2020년부터 법정 문화도시로 지정되기 위해 문화특화지역조성사업과 연계하여 문화거점공간 마련, 시민거버넌스 운영, 도시기록 사업 등 다양한 문화사업을 추진하고 있다고 전했다.

속초시 관계자는“이번 보고회를 통해 전문가, 지역문화예술단체 관계자, 속초시민 등 다양한 위치에 있는 분들의 의견을 수렴하여 현실성 있고 지속 가능한 문화도시 조성 계획 수립을 통해 법정 문화도시 공모 준비에 만전을 다하겠다.”라고 말했다.
