[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 강원경찰청 고속도로순찰대 7지구대는 불법튜닝 자동차로 인해, 운전자들이 고속도로 운행중 위협을 느끼고 대형사고의 위험성 증가 우려에 따라 교통안전 저해행위 예방과 운행질서 확립을 위해 단속을 강화하기로 했다고 전했다.

자동차의 소음기, 등화장치, 차체 및 차대 등 자동차의 구조나 장치를 변경하려면 한국교통안전공단의 승인을 받아야 한다. 이런 절차를 거치지 않고 임의로 구조변경을 할 경우 자동차 안전성을 해치거나 다른 차량 운전에 지장을 줄 수 있다고 했다.

따라서, 지난 2월 14일부터 오는 3월 6일까지 3주간 도내 전 고속도로에 암행순찰차 투입하여 소음방지장치·등화장치 등 자동차의 구조 및 장치의 임의변경 사항 전반에 대해 단속을 실시할 예정이며, 특히 야간 폭주 자동차에 대해서도 단속활동을 펼칠 계획이라고 했다.
