[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 포천시 도서관은 포천시민의 독서진흥을 위해 2021년 포천 북살롱-벽돌책 함께읽기 5기 프로젝트를 운영한다고 밝혔다.

벽돌책 함께읽기 프로젝트는 평소 완독하고 싶지만 두껍고 어려워서 망설여지는 책들을 30일 동안 여럿이 함께 읽어보는 챌린지 프로그램이라고 했다. 

사전 신청을 한 참여자들이 비공개 SNS에 매일 일정 분량의 독서 활동을 밑줄 사진, 필사, 간략한 소감을 적는 등 다양한 방법으로 인증하며 독서를 독려하는 방식으로 운영된다고 했다. 

지난 8월까지 『사피엔스』, 『페스트』, 『총균쇠』, 『모비딕』 등을 함께 읽어 시민들의 큰 호응을 얻었다고 전했다.

9월, 10월 함께 읽을 도서는 과학 교양서의 고전이라 불리는 『코스모스』(칼 세이건, 사이언스북스, 2004)이며, 우주의 탄생과 은하계의 진화, 태양의 삶과 죽음, 외계 생명의 존재 문제 등에 관한 난해한 개념을 현대 천문학을 대표하는 저명한 저자가 심오한 철학적 사색과 엮어 명쾌하게 해설해주고, 인류사, 문명사, 프랑스 문학, 미국 문학에 이어 과학분야 도서에도 도전해 포천시민의 독서 스펙트럼을 넓힐 수 있는 좋은 기회가 될 것으로 보인다고 했다.

포천시 도서관은 11월, 12월에는 도스토예프스키의 『죄와 벌』(6기)을 함께 읽으며 러시아 문학을 경험할 예정이며, 포천시민의 개인 독서 진흥을 위해 연중으로 함께 읽기 프로젝트를 운영할 예정이고, 벽돌책 함께읽기 5기에 대한 자세한 일정 및 참여 방법 안내는 영북도서관 홈페이지에서 확인할 수 있다고 전했다.
