[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 포천시 도서관은 포천시민의 독서진흥을 위해 ‘2021년 포천 북살롱-벽돌책 함께 읽기 4기 프로젝트’를 운영한다고 밝혔다.

벽돌책 함께 읽기 프로젝트는 평소 완독하고 싶지만 두껍고 어려워서 망설여지는 책들을 30일 동안 함께 읽어보는 챌린지 프로그램이라고 했다. 

사전 신청을 한 참여자들이 비공개 SNS에 매일 일정 분량의 독서 활동을 인증하고, 참여자 간 독서를 독려하는 방식으로 운영된다고 전했다.

인증은 밑줄 사진, 필사, 간략한 소감을 적는 등 다양한 방법으로 할 수 있으며 벽돌책 함께 읽기 프로젝트는 지난 3기까지 참가자 호응이 매우 높았다고 했다.

7, 8월에 함께 읽을 도서는 시원한 바다를 배경으로 펼쳐지는 고래와의 결투를 그린 허먼 멜빌의 미국소설 『모비딕』(1851)이며, 고래 백과사전이라고 불릴 만큼 고래에 대한 잡다한 지식이 많이 담긴 『모비딕』은, 『사피엔스』(1기),『페스트』(2기), 『총, 균, 쇠』(3기) 등 기존 프로젝트 도서에 비해 청소년들도 부담 없이 도전할 수 있어 많은 참여가 기대된다고 했다.

포천시 도서관은 이후로도 남은 2021년 동안 칼 세이건의 『코스모스』(5기), 도스토예프스키의 『죄와 벌』(6기) 등 연중으로 프로젝트를 진행해 포천시민의 독서진흥을 이끌 예정이라고 했다.
