[김현우 기자 = 가평] 13일 가평군은 지역경제 활성화를 위해 300억원 이상의 경제유발 효과가 있는 2025년 경기도 체육대회와 2026년 경기도 생활체육대축전 유치를 위해 유명 체육인 및 관내 체육동호회 회원들과 합작해 응원 영상제작을 하고 있다고 밝혔다.

가평군 홍보미디어팀 자체장비를 활용해 유튜브 영상제작에 참여한 체육인은 가평이 고향인 프로골퍼 지은희 선수가 지난 7일 참여했다. 

이와 함께 관내 어린이, 청소년, 일반인, 어르신 등 생애주기 종목별 3팀씩 12개팀 체육 동호회도 적극 참여해 유치 지지를 응원하고 있다.

가평군은 지난달 10일 도 종합체육대회 유치 추진단을 출범했으며, 유치 추진단은 대회 개최계획서 작성, 경기도 현장실사 대응, 개최지 선정이 예상되는 4월 말까지 운영하게 된다.

특히 서태원 군수는 지난 달 31일 도를 방문, 김동연 지사에게 도 종합체육대회 유치 등을 건의하고 모든 군민의 염원의 뜻도 경기도에 전달하는 등 행정력을 집중, 유치에 최선을 다하고 있다.   

가평군의회도 대회 유치지지 결의문을 채택해 힘을 실어주는 등 행정과 지역주민이 대회 유치를 희망하는 다양한 유치 활동을 체계적으로 전개해 나가고 있다.

2025년 4~5월중 3일간 열리는 경기도 체육대회는 31개 시․군 1만2000여 명이 참여해 27개 종목에서 열띤 경합을 벌이며, 4일 동안 25개 종목 2만여 명이 참가하는 경기도 생활체육대축전은 2026년 9~10월 중, 개최될 예정으로 가평군 유치에 관심이 쏠리고 있다.

한편 가평군은 낮은 재정자립에도 불구하고 지난 수년간 종합운동장 시설개선, 한석봉 체육관 등 다목적체육관 건립, 야구장 및 축구장, 테니스장 등 공공체육시설 확충에 1000억원 이상을 집중 투자하는 등 스포츠 환경을 개선하고 스포츠 마케팅을 활용한 경제발전에 노력하고 있다.
