[김현우 기자 = 동두천] 동두천 연탄은행은 지난 3일 상패동에서 올해 연탄봉사 시작을 알리는 2022년 연탄은행 재개식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

동두천연탄은행은 지난 2004년 설립했으며, 겨울철 추위로 고생하는 소외계층에게 자원봉사자들과 함께 매년 연탄을 직접 전달하고 있다.

동두천연탄은행 오성환 목사는 “최근 코로나19로 인해 연탄 기부 및 자원봉사자의 손길이 많이 줄어들었다. 아직도 연탄으로 겨울을 지내는 분들이 계시는 만큼, 많은 관심 및 봉사를 부탁드린다”라고 말했다.

박형덕 동두천시장은 “매년 연탄은행을 열어주셔서 감사하다. 동절기를 맞이하여 올해도 모든 시민들이 따뜻한 겨울을 날 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
