[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 11일 동해시의회 의원연구단체인 ‘동해항 항만지역 등 대기질 개선연구회’가 의회 소회의실에서 연구활동 착수보고회를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이날 회의에는 연구단체 소속 김기하·박남순·최석찬·임응택 의원을 비롯해 곽연철 동해시통장연합회장과 안희정 환경보호 국민운동본부 동해본부장, 박종현 쌍용C&E동해공장 대외협력이사, 동해시 환경과 담당팀장이 참석해 용역착수내용을 청취하고 대기질 개선 발전 방안에 대해 논의했다고 했다.

연구용역을 진행한 한국산업개발연구원 이해종 박사는 “이번 연구를 통해 정부의 제1차 항만지역 등 대기질 개선 종합계획에 대해 동해시의 적극적 대응방안과 항만 배후지역 주민의 사람의 질 문제에 대한 개선방안을 제시할 계획이다”라고 밝혔다. 

의원연구단체 대표인 김기하 동해시의회 의장은 “그동안 정부의 항만지역 등 대기질 개선 종합계획에 동해항 관련 내용이 배제되어 있어 안타깝게 생각했었는데 이번 의원연구단체 연구를 통해 이에 대한 갈증을 해소할 수 있길 바란다”고 말했다.
