[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 12월 1일 양주시는 양주시청 상황실에서 2021년 양주시 아동·여성 보호 지역연대 운영회의를 개최하고 2021년 여성폭력 추방구간 홍보 캠페인을 실시했다고 밝혔다.

양주시 아동·여성 보호 지역연대는 지역사회 안전망 구축을 위해 지난 2012년 제정된 ‘양주시 아동 여성 보호에 관한 조례’에 따라 구성된 민·관 협력 협의체로, 위원장인 양주시 복지문화국장을 비롯해 양주시의회, 교육기관, 의료기관, 여성폭력 관련 시설, 아동 보호·가족 지원기관, 지역주민대표 등 17명으로 구성됐다고 했다.

이날 회의에서 위원들은 아동·여성 보호 지역연대 신규위원의 위촉과 각 기관의 주요 사업 현황을 공유하고, 성폭력·가정폭력, 아동학대 등으로부터 안전한 양주시 조성을 위한 각 기관별 역량을 강화하고 유기적 협력체계를 구축하기로 의견을 모았으며, 아동·여성 보호 지역연대 위원, 양주시가정폭력상담소 등 20여명이 여성폭력 추방구간에 따라 양주역에서 캠페인을 펼쳐 홍보 물품과 책자를 배부했다고 전했다.

이번 캠페인을 통해 ‘디지털 성범죄’, ‘데이트 폭력’, ‘스토킹 범죄‘ 등 최근 여성을 대상으로 한 심각한 수준의 범죄와 성폭력·가정폭력에 대한 경각심을 높이고, 여성, 아동 등 약자에 대한 폭력 근절에 시민들의 관심과 인식을 고취했다고 했다.

양주시 관계자는 “최근 급증하고 있는 아동·여성을 대상으로 한 심각한 범죄에 신속히 대응하고 안전한 지역사회 환경 조성을 위해 민·관 협력과 정보교류를 통한 지역사회 보호체계 구축을 위해 최선을 다하겠다”며 “여성과 아동에 대한 폭력을 우리 모두의 일로 인식했으면 좋겠고 앞으로도 여성폭력에 대한 사회적 공감대 확산을 위해 다양한 홍보와 예방활동을 펼치겠다”고 말했다.
