판스프링은 노면의 충격을 흡수하기 위해 차량 하부에 설치하는 완충장치이지만 일부 화물차들은 적재함이 옆으로 벌어지며 화물이 쏟아지는 것을 방지하기 위해 판스프링을 적재함 옆에 지지대로 끼워 사용하는 경우가 많은 실정으로, 최근 들어 화물차에서 떨어진 판스프링이 고속도로 주행 중 다른 차량으로 날아들어 인명피해가 발생하는 사고가 잇따라 발생하고 있다.
