[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 9월 8일 북부지방산림청은 강원대학교 학술림에서 잣나무림 보호·육성 계획 수립을 위한 정책연구용역 중간보고회를 실시하여 연구용역 진행 상황에 대한 세부적인 과업 내용을 점검할 계획이라고 밝혔다.

잣나무림 보호·육성계획은 북부지방산림청 관내 소나무재선충병 확산에 따른 잣나무림에 대한 피해확산 방지 및 효율적인 육성을 목표로 2020년 자체 계획 수립을 시작하였으며, 금년에는 세부적인 방법을 제시하고자 전문가가 수행하는 연구용역을 추진 중에 있다고 했다.

연구용역의 중점 추진사항으로는 ‘잣나무림 보호·육성에 대한 새로운 시업방법 제시, 소나무류반출금지 인접지역 잣나무림에 대한 관리방안, 반출금지구역 내 벌채 산물에 대한 고부가가치 이용방법’ 등을 제시하여 산림사업에 반영하는 것이 목표라고 했다.

최수천 북부지방산림청장은 “소나무재선충병의 확산으로 잣나무림에 대한 산림경영에 제약이 발생하고 있는 상황에서 이번 연구용역을 통해 재선충병 확산 방지 및 선도적인 산림경영 방법을 마련하고자 한다.”라고 밝혔다.
