【경기북부 양주브레이크뉴스】 김완영 기자 = 양주시(시장 강수현)는 지난 28일 광적면 광적생활체육공원 내에서 ‘양주시 공설파크골프장 개장식’을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이날 개장식에는강수현 양주시장을 비롯해 윤창철 양주시의회 의장, 정성호 국회의원 및 시·도의원, 임재근 양주시 체육회장, 양주시 파크골프 협회장·회원 등 400여명이 참석해 개장을 축하했다.

양주시 공설 파크골프장은 1만 4,000㎡의 면적에 경기도 특별조정교부금 13억 5천만원을 지원받아 총 18억 5천만원으로 조성한 사업으로 18홀로 구성했다.

이외에도 관리실, 클럽하우스 및 야외 조경시설 등의 휴게시설을 설치했으며 특히, 공원 내 조성으로 골프장을 찾은 시민들이 각종 체육시설과 편의시설 등을 연계하여 이용할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.

이번 파크골프장은 잔디 안정화를 위해 임시휴장하고 내년 봄부터 정식 운영할 계획이다.

강수현 양주시장은 “수요도가 높은 파크골프장 개장으로 노년층을 비롯한 시민들의 다양한 체육종목활성화를 통한 삶의 질 향상과 건강 증진을 기대하며, 정식 개장 전까지 일부 불편 시설에 대해 개선을 완료하겠다”고 말했다.

한편, 광적생활체육공원은 서부권 스포츠센터와 족구장, 테니스장, 축구장 등 각종 체육시설이 모여있으며, 이중 족구장은 올해 경기도 건강생활체육시설 지원 공모사업에 선정돼 내년 실내 시설로 전환할 예정이고 축구장은 인조 잔디 교체 등 개선 사업이 진행될 예정이다.

이에 시는 시민들의 다양한 생활체육 활동 참여에 크게 이바지할 것으로 전망한다.
