[안종욱 기자=경기북부] 지난 24일 경기도 남양주시 대한적십자사 진건천마봉사회(회장 한주성)는  진건읍에 거주하는 장애인 한부모 가정을 방문해 대청소, 집수리 등 주거환경 개선을 위한 봉사활동을 실시하며 이웃을 돌보는 따뜻함을 나눴다.

지적장애인 아버지와 미성년 자녀로 이루어진 이 가구는 생활 쓰레기 및 반려견 용품 등으로 가득한 집안을 미처 치우지 못하는 상황이었으나 올겨울 추위로 보일러가 동파되면서 적십자사와 진건읍 행정복지센터에 도움을 요청하게 되었다.

이날 도움의 손길을 보탠 20여 명의 자원봉사자는 집안의 쓰레기 3t가량을 비워내고, 거실과 방바닥에 장판을 새로 깔고 노후 된 싱크대와 전등을 교체하는 등 이전보다 훨씬 청결하고 편리한 주거환경을 선물했다.

지원을 받은 박 모씨는 “엄동설한에 고장 난 보일러 걱정으로 막막했는데, 여러분들이 도와주셔서 너무나 감사하고 이제는 걱정 없이 따뜻하게 지낼 수 있을 것 같다.”며 수고한 천마봉사단원들에게 감사의 마음을 전했다.
