[브레이크뉴스 동두천 = 김완영 기자] 경기도 동두천시민과 주한미군의 화합과 축제의 장으로 꾸며진 ‘제16회 한미 우호의 날’ 행사가 지난 23일 성황리에 개최됐다.
특히 올해 한미우호의 날 행사는 시민들과 주한미군이 직접 교류·화합할 수 있는 한미친선체육대회가 1부 행사로 펼쳐져 큰 호응을 얻었다.
이날 한미친선체육대회는 동두천시민 대표팀과 미2사단 선수단 대표팀이 선수단을 구성하여 축구, 야구, 농구 3개 종목 친선경기를 치렀다.
축구의 경우 28사단 장병들이 참석하여 동두천시민팀, 28사단 장병팀, 미2사단 장병팀이 3파전을 벌이는 의미 있는 시간을 가졌다.
이어 한미우호축제는 캠프보산 맥주축제와 함께 진행돼 많은 시민과 미군이 참석하여 한데 어울려 즐기는 축제의 장이 되었다.
한편, 박형덕 동두천시장은 “이번 제16회 한미우호의 날 행사는 70년 동맹의 한미 우정을 다시 한번 되새길 수 있는 뜻깊은 시간이었다”라며 “앞으로도 한미 양국의 화합을 키워나감과 동시에 동두천만이 갖고 있는 매력을 살릴 수 있는 특색있는 행사로 내용과 규모를 더욱 발전시키겠다”라고 밝혔다.
