[김완영 기자 = 양주] (재)양주시희망장학재단(이사장 임충빈)이 오는 3월 2일부터 17일까지 2023년 제17기 장학생 신청서를 접수한다.
특히 올해부터는 그간 장학생 수혜대상에 소외돼 있던 사이버대학·방송통신대 등 원격대학과 학교 밖 청소년까지 포함했다.
선발 공통요건은 2021년 1월부터 현재까지 양주시에 주민등록을 두고 국내 중·고·대학교, 대학원에 재학 중인 학생이다.
선발인원은 으뜸인재육성 1명, 성적우수 분야 110명(고교생 50명, 대학생 60명), 면학장려 분야 40명(고교생 20명, 대학생 20명), 특기 분야 24명(중·고·대학생 각 8명) 등 총 175명이다.
분야별 중복 신청은 불가하며 한 가정당 1명씩 신청할 수 있다.
으뜸인재 육성 장학금은 입학금을 포함한 재학 중 4년간의 등록금에 상당하는 금액을 반기별로 지급한다.
단 장학생 선발 후 학기 성적이 3.0학점 미만일 경우 장학생 자격이 박탈된다.
성적우수·면학장려·특비 분야 장학금은 중·고교생 50만원, 방통대·사이버대학생 100만원, 2·3년제 대학생 200만원, 4년제 대학생 250만원을 지급한다.
재단은 오는 4월 장학생선발심의위원회와 이사회 심의를 거쳐 5월 초 최종 대상자 발표와 장학금 수여식을 개최할 예정이다.
장학생 신청을 희망하는 학생은 양주시희망장학재단 홈페이지, 네이버 카페에서 신청서를 내려받아 구비서류를 지참해 장학재단에 방문·우편 신청하면 된다.
임충빈 이사장은 “올 하반기에는 다문화 가정 학생까지 장학혜택을 받을 수 있도록 지원대상을 확대할 계획”이라며 “지역 내 인재들이 장학금을 받을 수 있도록 많은 관심과 신청을 부탁드린다”고 말했다.
한편, 양주시희망장학재단은 2007년에 설립된 비영리재단법인으로 지난해까지 시 출연액이 약 117억원으로 후원자수 약 7만여 명, 후원액은 약 43억원이다.
