[브레이크뉴스 양주=김완영 기자] 경기도 양주시(시장 강수현)에는 대형의 문화예술 그룹보다 작지만 시민중심적인 문화예술 공연을 희망하는 그룹들이 많이 있는데도 불구하고 공연 장소가 별로 없어 불편을 호소하고 있다.
특히, 양주시 소속 문화예술인들이 공연 장소로 선호하는 곳은 옥정호수도서관 3층에 있는 ‘예술극장’이다. 이곳에서는 공연, 강연 등 다양한 행사를 위한 다목적 공간이다.
양주시가 스스로 예술극장이라고 해 놓은 이곳은 한 마디로 “앙꼬 없는 찐빵”이다. 즉, 겉만 그럴듯하고 실속이 없다는 뜻이다.
예술극장이라 해 놓은 이곳에 공연을 위한 ‘피아노’가 없다. 그래서, 공연을 위해서는 피아노 대여 업체가 매우 바쁜 곳이다. 그것도 도서관의 복잡한 엘리베이터를 이용해 운반하는 풍경이 낯설다.
이에 예술인 A 씨는 “도서관 관계 공무원에게 구두로 건의해 보았는데, 여기는 도서관 건물이라 피아노를 놓을 수 없다고 한다. 그럼 예술극장이라 스스로 정해놓고 도서관 건물의 목적과는 다르기 때문에 필요 없다는 식의 소극 행정은 시정되어야 한다. 예술과 공연에 피아노 설치는 필연적인 소품이다. 시정을 요구한다”라고 하면서 현장행정과 적극행정을 주문했다.
한편 연말연시에는 각종 공연이 풍성한 시기이다. 양주시는 긴급 예산을 사용해서라고 “유치원, 어린이, 예술단체 등의 공연을 위해 피아노 설치를 해야한다”라는 목소리가 나왔다.
