[김완영 기자 = 양주] 양주시(시장 강수현)는 지난 7일 시청 2층 상황실에서 2023년 제1회 정책협의회를 열고 주요 현안과제 추진과 국도비 예산확보를 위해 정책공조 강화에 나섰다.
이날 회의에는 강수현 시장과 정성호 국회의원을 비롯해 한상민 시의회 부의장, 정희태·이지연 시의원 등 더불어민주당 소속 의원들이 대거 참석한 가운데 지역 현안 전반을 공유하고 각종 국·도비 건의사항에 대한 정책협력 방안을 구체화하는 시간을 가졌다.
시는 이 자리에서 양주역 환승센터 건설사업 등 주요 국도비 확보 건의사업 18건과 양주시 최대 현안으로 떠오른 경기북부 공공거점 의료센터 양주시 유치 등 지역 핵심 현안사업 14건 등에 대해 추진 현황, 향후 계획을 상세히 설명하며 해당 사업이 속도감 있게 추진될 수 있도록 관심과 지원을 요청했다.
특히 국·도비 등 예산이 수반되는 사업에 대해서는 당면 사안의 시급성과 필요성을 강조하며 경기도와 중앙부처의 중점 현안으로 반영돼 적기 지원을 받을 수 있도록 적극적인 협조를 건의했다.
정성호 국회의원은 “양주시민의 행복, 양주시의 번영을 위한 역점 현안사업 추진을 위해 적극 힘을 보태겠다”며 “경기 북부 거점도시의 위상에 맞는 교통 인프라와 주민 편의시설 구축을 위해 관련 행정절차의 신속한 이행에 만전을 기해 달라”고 당부했다.
강수현 시장은 “바쁜 의정활동 중에도 시민의 목소리를 듣기 위해 방문을 해주신 의원들께 깊은 감사를 드린다”며 “지역 내 당면한 현안사업이 순조롭게 해결될 수 있도록 각별한 관심과 아낌없는 지원을 부탁드린다”고 말했다.
