[김완영 기자 = 양주] 강수현 양주시장은 29일 경기도청에서 김동연 도지사를 만나 양주시의 주요 현안을 설명하고 이에 대한 적극적인 지원과 협조를 건의했다.
 
이날 면담에서는 △ 경기북부 공공거점 의료센터 양주시 건립, △ 시도 6호선(광사~만송) 도로확포장 공사에 특조금 지원 요청 등이 주요 내용으로 다뤄졌다.
 
이 자리에서 강 시장은 양질의 공공·민간 병원 부족으로 응급질환 등 진료보장이 어려운 경기북부 지역 의료 사각지대 개선의 시급성을 설명하며, 300병상 이상의 종합병원급 의료 인프라의 부재로 의료 접근성이 낮다고 평가받는 양주시에 경기북부 공공거점 의료시설 건립이 반드시 필요함을 강조했다.
 
또한, 양주는 경기도 공공의료원 부지 확정 시 즉시 착공과 운영이 가능한 50,000㎡ 이상 규모의 옥정지구 의료시설부지를 확보하고 있으며, 경기 북부권 의료 취약지역인 동두천, 연천, 포천에서 30분 이내 도착이 가능한 최적의 입지조건을 가지고 있다.

이 밖에도 국지도 98호선(백석~유양) 도로 개설로 양주지역 산업단지(홍죽, 구암, 남면, 은남) 입주기업의 물류비 절감, GTX-F(경기도 순환) 노선추진으로 교통·행정 불편 해소, 서울 북부와 경기북부를 직접 연결하는 우이(강북)~양주간 광역도로(지하) 추진 사업에 대해 힘써줄 것을 요청했다.
 
김동연 지사는 사업을 담당하는 국장과 함께 참석해 양주시가 건의하는 사업에 대해 꼼꼼히 청취하는 자리를 갖고 “양주시가 건의한 사업을 적극 지원하겠다”고 말했다.
 
강수현 시장은 “양주의 발전과 시민의 삶의 질과 직결된 다양한 현안사업을 해결하기 위해선 시장을 비롯한 시 공무원들의 노력이 요구된다”며 “앞으로도 국도비 등 예산지원과 현안 해결을 위해 경기도와 지속적으로 협력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
