[김완영 기자 = 포천] 경기도 포천시가 오는 9월 16일부터 10월 29일까지 관인면 중리 한탄강 생태경관단지에서 가을꽃 정원을 운영한다.
시는 생태경관단지 30만㎡(약 8만 평)에 다양한 가을꽃을 식재해 포천시민은 물론 관광객 모두가 즐길 수 있는 포천시만의 가을꽃 정원을 조성했다.

한탄강 하늘다리에 연장된 전망데크길을 따라 10분간 걸으면 가을꽃정원에 도착한다. 30만㎡의 공간에 가을꽃이 가득 심어져 있다.
가을꽃은 추석 연휴인 9월 말부터 10월 초순까지 만개할 것으로 보인다. 한탄강 생태경관단지 가을꽃정원에서는 메리골드, 버베나, 코스모스, 백일홍, 흰 메밀과 붉은 메밀꽃 등 가을꽃의 향연을 즐길 수 있다.
특히 10ha의 광활한 벌판에 만개한 메밀꽃밭의 절경을 감상할 수 있도록 간이 전망대를 신규 설치했다. 이외에도 동물 테마의 잔디 토피어리 조형물을 설치해 특색 있는 포토존을 준비했다.
이번 가을꽃정원은 보행로와 경사로를 정비해 이동 불편을 최소화했으며 누구나 즐길 수 있는 정원을 만들었다. 또한, 생태경관단지를 이용할 경우 주차장 280면, 하늘다리 이용 시 도보 600m 거리에 주차장 400면을 확보해 편리하게 방문할 수 있도록 했다.

한탄강 생태경관단지 가을꽃정원이 운영되는 동안 풍성한 행사도 함께 진행된다. 포천시립민속예술단, 인디밴드, 어쿠스틱 밴드의 다양한 공연이 펼쳐져 흐르는 음악과 함께 가을꽃을 만끽할 수 있다.
체험 프로그램으로는 꽃다발 만들기, 꽃차 시음회 등 다양하게 준비했다. 이외에도 한탄강 세계지질공원 홍보관을 운영해 포천 한탄강의 매력을 샅샅이 살펴볼 수도 있다.
축제 기간 진입로 주변에는 포천에서 키워 맛과 영양이 풍부한 지역 농산물 판매장과 포천시 대표 마켓인 포유마켓도 함께 운영될 예정이다.

상반기 봄꽃정원에서 시범 운영했던 가족형 전기자전거를 정식으로 운영한다.
운영 대수도 20대에서 62대로 추가했다. 전기자전거 이용료는 1시간 기준 일반 관광객은 2만 원, 포천시민은 1만 원이며, 이용료의 50%는 포천사랑상품권으로 환급받을 수 있어 지역경제 활성화에도 크게 도움이 될 것으로 기대된다.

가을꽃정원이 펼쳐지는 한탄강 생태경관단지는 한탄강 댐으로 인한 홍수터를 활용하고, 수몰지역 주민의 삶에 도움이 될 수 있는 방법을 찾고자 시작되었다.
생태경관단지에 정원을 조성해 지역 내 정원작가를 발굴하고, 관광산업으로 확장해 마을 주민의 소득 증대를 도모하기 위해 노력하고 있다. 이번 가을꽃정원에는 10개의 지역작가 공공정원이 구성되어 색다른 정원을 살펴보는 재미가 있다.

시는 올해부터 다년생과 단년생의 다양한 꽃을 생태경관단지에 식재해 봄과 가을은 물론 사계절 즐길 수 있는 포천시만의 정원을 조성하겠다고 밝혔다.
2023년 산림청의 무장애 도시숲 조성 공모사업에 선정되어 국비를 지원받았다. 시는 생태경관단지 내 장애물 없는 생활환경(BF, Barrier Free) 기반을 마련하고, 열린관광지로 조성하겠다는 방침이다.
하반기에는 경기도 소공원 환경조성 공모사업에 선정되어 도비 11억 원을 확보했다. 시는 2024년 장미정원, 반려견 녹지 쉼터 등을 조성해 한탄강 생태경관단지 내 다양한 녹지 인프라를 제공하겠다고 밝혔다.

포천 한탄강은 지난 2020년 7월 지질학적 보존 활용과 교육·관광자원으로서의 가치를 인정받아 유네스코 세계지질공원에 인증되었다.
이외 더불어 민선8기 포천시는 포천 한탄강에 문화·관광·생태 인프라를 활용해 '제2차 정원진흥 기본계획'의 국가정원 조성사업을 추진 중이다. 지난해 12월 한탄강 지방정원 기본계획 및 타당성 검토 용역을 완료했으며, 한탄강 평화 세계정원(지방정원)을 준비하고 있다.
시는 앞으로도 국도비 등 예산확보에 힘쓰겠다는 방침이다. 한편, 지난 5월 순천만 국가정원을 방문해 2023년 국제정원박람회를 견학하고 생태도시로의 전환을 위해 관광 및 정원산업 발전을 위한 순천시-포천시 업무협약을 체결했다.
시는 한탄강에 평화세계정원을 조성해 경기도를 대표하는 힐링문화관광지를 만들겠다는 목표다.
백영현 포천시장은 “2023 한탄강 생태경관단지 가을꽃 정원에 방문해 포천 한탄강의 가을을 만끽하시길 바란다. 엿새로 늘어난 추석연휴를 거쳐 10월 초순까지 만개할 것으로 보인다. 부담 없이 방문해 여유롭게 가을꽃을 즐길 수 있을 것”이라고 말했다.
