이번 작업을 통하여 산림인접지(산림으로부터 100m이내)에서 발생하는 영농부산물 등 산불위험요소를 사전에 차단하여, 불법소각에 의한 산불 발생이 최소화 될 것으로 기대된다.

또한, 군은 농촌지역 불법소각 합동점검단을 편성하여 산림인접지 내에서의 불법소각에 대한 홍보·계도활동 및 집중 단속을 실시하고 있으며, 적발 시 최고 50만원의 과태료를 부과하는 등 산불위험요인 사전차단에 노력할 방침이다. 

이범주 산림과장은 “최근 5년간 소각으로 인한 산불 발생 건수가 22건이며, 주로 영농 준비기인 3~4월에 산불발생이 집중 됐다”며, “주민들이 산불에 대한 경각심을 가지고 산불 예방에 적극적으로 협조하여 주시기를 당부 드리며, 소각산불 없는 가평군을 만들도록 최선을 다하겠다.”고 말했다.
