<김일웅기자=경기도> 올해로 79회를 맞이한 식목일 긴동현 경기도지사가 성남시와 함께 가천대학교에서 희망의 나무심기 행사를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

행사가 열린 가천대학교는 2022년 8월 9일 집중호우로 인해 산사태가 발생해 약(1.8ha)의 나무들이 훼손되어 복구된 지역이다. 경기도와 가천대는 이번 행사를 통해 산수유·왕벚나무 등 경관 조성에 뛰어난 7개 수종 2천100여 본을 식재해 훼손된 자연경관 약 5천㎡(0.5ha) 규모를 복구할 계획이다. 

김동연 지사는 이날 행사에서 “오늘 식목행사가 기후변화 대응에 커다란 하나의 씨앗이 되기를 희망한다”며 “경기도는 RE100 선언을 통해 기업, 산업, 도민 생활, 공공 분야에서 RE100을 추진하고 있는데, 경기도의 적극적인 기후변화 대응을 중앙정부가 따라오게끔 하겠다. 경기도가 변하면 대한민국이 변한다”고 말했다.

이날 행사에는 이진찬 성남부시장, 최미리 가천대학교수석부총장, 김성남 경기도의회 농정해양위원장, 가천대학교 학생 등 100여 명이 함께하면서 다음 세대를 위한 숲을 조성한다는 희망의 뜻과 탄소중립의 의지를 담았다.
