<김일웅기자= 포천·가평> 8일 오전 10시경 국민의 힘 포천·가평 허청회·김용호후보가 포청시청 브리핑룸에서 긴급 공동성명 기자회견을 열었다.

 

이날 두 후보자는 포천·가평의 경선에 참여한 A후보의 공직선거법위반과 관련해 현재 검찰에 고발된 사건을 언급하며 국민의 힘 공관위에 철저한 조사를 통해 진상을 밝혀주기를 바란다며 A후보자가 경선후보로서 국민의 힘에 전혀 도움이 되질 않는다는 문제의 심각성을 언급했다.

 

A후보는 포천·가평 국민의 힘 경선 확정 전부터 많은 문제를 일으키며 자질 논란에 휩싸이기도 했다. 또, 지난달 27일 의정부지방검찰청에 유사기관설치금지 혐의로 함께 고발된 ○○위원회와 유사기관설치금지·사전선거운동·허위사실공표 등의 공직선거법 위반 혐의로 고발되어 해당 사건은 포천 경찰서로 이송되어 조사가 이어질 전망이다.

 

이날 공동성명서 발표는 A후보를 제외한 4명의 후보가 하기로 했지만, 김성기후보는 네가티브선거로 오인할수 있다는 판단으로 참석을 하지 않았고, 또, 김용태 후보는 4인의 공동성명서 발표가 아니면 참석하기 어렵다는 입장을 표한 것으로 확인됐다.

 

포천·가평 국민의 힘 경선 후보자 중 가장 논란의 중심이 된 A후보자를 바라보는 지역민들은 이번 경선과 관련해 불만의 목소리를 내고 있다. 이번 총선 승리는 윤석열 정부의 성공을 위한 초석이 되어야 하는 가장 중요한 시기에 A후보자의 독자적 행보가 지지층 마져 흔드는 선거가 될까 두렵다는 반응이다.

 

A후보자의 독자적인 행보에 지친 지역민들은 납득할 수 없는 수준에 이르렀다는 판단을 하는 것 같다. 조속한 공관위 진상조사 결정이 포천·가평의 공정한 경선을 만들어 간다고 각 후보자들과 국민의 힘을 지지하는 지역민들은 바라고 있다.

 피의자로 입건된 후보자와의 경선, 

공관위의 즉각적인 진상 조사를 요청합니다.

 

 지난 3월 5일 국민의힘 제22대 국회의원선거 후보자 공천관리위원회는 제16차 회의 결과를 통해 경기도 포천·가평 선거구를 5인 경선 지역으로 발표한 바 있습니다.

 

  각 후보자는 오직 윤석열 정부의 성공과 낙후된 포천·가평의 새로운 발전을 이끌겠다는 신념으로 우리 당의 총선 승리만을 향해 달려왔습니다. 하지만 이번 공관위의 결정은 포천•가평 주민들이 납득할 수 없는 수준에 이르렀기에 아래 사항에 대해서 조사와 진상파악을 요청하고자 합니다.

 

  언론에 따르면 이번 경선에 임하게 될 A예비후보는 유사기관설치금지 혐의로 고발된 ○○위원회와 함께 지난달 27일 유사기관설치금지·사전선거운동·허위사실공표 등의 공직선거법 위반 혐의로 의정부지방검찰청에 고발되었고, 해당 사건은 현재 포천경찰서로 이송된 상태입니다.  

 

  검찰이 사건을 관할 경찰로 이관해 수사를 지휘하는 것은 고발인의 주장이 어느 정도 소명됐다는 의미로 해석될 수 있습니다. 나아가 공개된 각종 증거자료들을 토대로 한 법률전문가들의 의견을 더할 때 유죄가 인정될 가능성이 매우 높다고 합니다. 이에 따라 언론에서도 A후보와 ○○위원회가 피의자로 입건되어 조사를 받게 되었다고 보도한 바 있습니다.

 

  이번 총선 승리는 윤석열 정부 성공의 최소 조건입니다. 연일 보도되는  불법 선거운동 의혹이 국민의힘 시스템 공천과 포천·가평 국민의힘 지지층 민심마저 흔들고 있습니다. 

 

  경선 과정은 공정한 축제의 장이 되어야 합니다. 

 

  경선 발표가 늦어진 포천·가평 주민들은 국민의힘 경선 과정을 엄중히 지켜보고 있습니다. 선거법 위반으로 후보자가 기소되면 이로 인한 피해는 고스란히 당과 주민의 몫으로 돌아옵니다. 또한 민주당 좋은 일만 시키는 격이 됩니다.

 

  국민의힘은 ‘어떠한 경우든 불법으로는 당선될 수 없고, 당선돼도 소용없다’는 준엄한 철칙을 보여줘야 합니다. 

 

  국민의힘 공관위에 정중히 요청합니다. 국민의힘은 민주당과 달라야 합니다. 검찰·경찰 수사와 별개로 국민의힘 스스로 해당 사건의 심각성을 인지하고, 즉각적인 실태 조사와 철저한 진상 파악에 나서주십시오. 

 

  포천·가평 지역주민과 경선에 참여한 후보들, 모두가 결과에 승복할 수 있는 공정하고 상식적인 경선이 실시되기를 간절히 바랍니다.

   Each candidate ran only for our party's victory in the general election with the belief that they would lead the success of the Yoon Seok-yeol government and new development in underdeveloped Pocheon and Gapyeong. However, since the decision of the embassy has reached a level that Pocheon and Gapyeong residents cannot understand, we would like to request an investigation and finding out the truth about the following matters.
