[김완영 기자 = 동두천] 동두천시(시장 박형덕)는 신기한 곤충과 파충류를 만나볼 수 있는 특별전시회를 지난 9월 5일부터 6일까지 2일간 관내 5개 유치원을 대상으로 시범 진행했다고 밝혔다.

이번 특별전시회는 관내 유치원생 250명이 참여했으며 장수풍뎅이, 왕사슴벌레 등 곤충 15종과 도마뱀 10종, 고슴도치 등 총 30종이 전시되었다. 특히 도심 속에서 흔하게 볼 수 없었던 다양한 곤충과 파충류를 관찰하고 체험해 볼 수 있어 참여 어린이들의 호응이 높았다.

곤충과 파충류 생태정보에 대한 사육사의 눈높이 설명을 통해 어린이들의 곤충 이해도를 높였으며 만져보기 등 색다른 체험을 통해 생명의 소중함을 일깨워 주면서 다양한 학습 기회 및 특별한 추억을 제공하였다.

이번 전시회에 참여한 유치원 관계자는 “곤충과 도마뱀에 대한 어린이들의 관심과 만족도가 매우 높아, 매년 개최하여 어린이들이 특수동물에 대해 친밀감을 느끼고 생명의 소중함을 되새길 수 있는 기회를 가졌으면 한다”고 전했다.
